Program for Brothers
James E. West / OA 100th Centennial Hike through Washington DC
Here you can find more amazing program offered to Scouting that can be used for training weekends, programs, or to just have a fun-filled weekend with your fellow brothers.
The National Capital Area Council in Washington DC has a program called the History of Scouting Trail (H.O.S.T.). This program is composed of four hikes going through Washington DC, with one being the James E. West / OA 100th Centennial HOST Hike.
This hike takes you on a loop through Washington DC as you learn about Scouting's early beginnings. It takes a day to complete, but it is worth the hike, as you earn an impressive medal for completing it, in addition to learning many things about the history of the Boy Scouts of America.
This medal can be worn on your uniform, just like the God and Church medal. Since it is the 100th anniversary of the Order of the Arrow, 3000 special medals were made. These medals feature a miniature likeness of the Order of the Arrow sash. The James E. West / OA 100th Centennial HOST Hike is the only hike out of the four HOST hikes that has a special OA Centennial medal.
Upon completion of this hike, you will have the opportunity to purchase one of these special medals, until there are no medals left.
This opportunity is not restricted to Arrowmen, so you can involve your Troop also.
